Was listening to #DtMF & got to LO QUE LÉ PASO A HAWAii & thought of Dr. Mei-Singh's #NACIS2024 presentation (not recorded, but panel was). While the topic was centered on Hawaii, there was a small part where she connected Hawaiian & Puerto Rican resistance. Listen to the song & listen to the panel!

Continuing to post some of my favorite #NACIS2024 presentations

Dr. Annita Lucchesi gave us some tough love and real truth for both NACIS and cartographers engaging with indigenous communities and data.

Communicating terrain cartography is really tricky, and @missmaps.bsky.social does a fantastic job in this #NACIS2024 talk.

New to terrain? Steps are broken down in a clear way. Expert to terrain? Watch for ideas on breaking down the steps to help mentor others!

Reposting this counts as my next post about talks I enjoyed at #NACIS2024.
I wasn't able to make it to #NACIS2024 this year, but I am slowly watching the presentations and learning so much!

There were a lot of Esri staff at this year's @nacis.bsky.social conference, below is a thread of their talks and the cartography they have been working on:

On my desk today: Total Eclipse by @kennethfield.bsky.social It made it back to Champaign safely from #NACIS2024 in Tacoma ... but a month later still is a little bit curled from being rolled in my suitcase.

Happy GIS Day to all those who celebrate!

At work we've got a series of talks from colleagues, and it's an excuse to repeat the talk I gave at #GeoCart2024 & #NACIS2024.

You can feel part of the action too by watching the recording of my @nacis.bsky.social talk!

It's true, most of the talks from #NACIS2024 can now be found online, along with 100s of videos from years past!

The thing I Iove most about the #geo community is the willingness to share! And there is no better example than the offerings from @nacis.bsky.social!
This is wild: @nacis.bsky.social 2024 videos are online, and there are... 136 of them! www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I’ve been messing around with imitating hand-drawn or antique map styles with QGIS, and after presenting on the topic at #nacis2024 I’ve finally posted a thing with what I’ve learned and some styles to download: andywoodruff.com/posts/2024/q...

Feeling 🤯 in this past #nacis2024 session on Adam Cox's Old Insurance Maps project digitizing Sanborn maps and it's integration into Richmond DSLs Mapping Inequality project. Can start identifying environmental hazards clustered in redlined nhoods.

There's some great maps in the #nacis2024 map gallery but here's a blast from the past from the last Tacoma-based conference in 2019. Remember sharpiegate? How could you forget! 🤦 Here's the community map that evolved from that moment in history.

If you're at #nacis2024 and would like a copy of my shiny Total Eclipse map I have a few to give away. Find me. I'll ask you a map trivia question. Get it right, and get a map. Simple!
