Private for profit medical in Canada would destroy our middleclass. We would see bankruptcy and medical debt due medical costs not covered by private medical, limits on coverage, just like USA. It would be unaffordable for many, meanwhile the obscenely rich investors would get richer.

There's a particularly bitter insult in all of this. I molded myself into the kind of person who could be taken seriously in these spaces--scholarly, conversant in the argot, pantomiming the middleclass graces--only for my background to not count when it matters.

The ones with legit grievances are the real working class, mostly immigrants or with an immigration background. The onese wreaking havoc are rather middleclass. Their resentment is racially coded, a sense of entitlement and concepts of a natural order in which they belong on top.

The most important aspect of a project like this is it needs to be for low-income seniors. There is housing in this area for the middleclass and up but not for the working poor and for seniors

Insurance is a reactionary product with capped profits. Low population, limited health networks and rural nature create a perfect storm in driving up costs. With the GOP's unwillingness to consider improving healthcare the middleclass in that state is doomed.
