The MK64 Spaghetti Kart PC port accidentally fixed a legacy bug. In the horizontal splitscreen mode, notice the left screenshot, P2's character never strays away from the center of the screen when turning/drifting. A recent nightly build (Right) simplified the camera code and resolved the issue.
An older build of Spaghetti Kart, Alfredo Alfa 0.9.9, player 2 is stuck in the center of the screen while drifting, whereas player 1's screen pivots the camera so the character is off center as both players use the same input with the same weight class (same stats). This mimicks behavior from the original Mario Kart 64. A newer nightly build from 12/28/2025 of Spaghetti Kart shows the player camera's are a match as both players use the same input with the same weight class (same stats). Both players pivot away from the center in the middle of a drift.

Some #deblur testing on #Analogue3D. Command & Conquer deblur Glitch (as mentioned in my short #N64Adv2 review: flateric.wordpress.com/2022/12/02/n...) does not "work" in C&C. MK64 shows the effect only on edges slightly, but Dark Rift shows the deblur setting quite well: #N64

Yeah, 64, not Super Mario Kart for SNES. I played SMK when it was new. It's a good fun game, but MK64 is another level. The move to proper 3D polygonal graphics really took it to the next level. I don't think you end up with a million Kart racers with just SMK. You need 64

- Make "Enable/Disable Controller Pak" an option in the settings, save a CPak per-game + per-user
- Disable save states on CPak games only when the CPak is enabled (lazy route to avoid issues)
- Provide CPak syncing when launching games during online play to sharing data (MK64 ghosts)

Seems doable.

I got a used copy around 1995 or so and my friends and I played so, so much battle mode.

Battle mode peaked in MK64 but there wasn’t really anything else like it on SNES at the time.

As someone whos has little stake in the argument, as I love both MKW and Crossworlds, there really is something here for everyone who likes Kart racers. These are both stellar games. MKW makes MK8 feel like MK64, and Crossworlds is such a step up from some older Sonic racers that didn’t grab me.

damn for some reason I booted up the N64 app on Switch 2 and played MK64 with the GameCube controller, straight up felt like Ratatouille
