It's not perfect. There are some questionable moments with certain lgbtqia+ characters. I didn't sense any ill will, targeting or hate towards them. But the "questionable" parts feels a bit dated even when the anime came out (i.e., the Mermaid Sisters even though they had one of the best songs!).
