I cannot believe November is nearly over. How is that possible? This past week has both been hellishly slow and passed by in a blur, largely because I was asleep most days when I wasn't at work, aside from when I should have been asleep at which time I was wide awake and primarily in pain, but that's another story. At least I made it through to Thursday in one piece, and my day off on Friday.

Today I am absolutely delighted to share my thoughts on the stunning new novel from Johana Gustawsson, Scars of Silence, translated into English by David Warriner. I love Johana's writing, and this, the second book in the Lidingö Mysteries series, has been one I have been looking forward to for a long time. My thanks to publisher Orenda Books for the advance copy for review and to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours for the tour invite.

Okay. This may be a very short update as I have done nothing. Well, not quite nothing as I did work and training type things that all help me in the long run and go to show that you can teach and old dog new tricks. But exciting life type stuff … well yeah. Not so much going on there right now.

After the fabulous time at Chiltern Kills last weekend, this week has been somewhat of an anticlimax. Work, work and more work pretty much sums things up. Put what I hope are the finishing touches in the apprenticeship portfolio, wrote some formula, ate too much rubbish, and generally felt like I could sleep forever. But hey. Booked tickets for the tour of Operation Mincemeat next year, so it’s not all bad, right?

And here we are at the start of another week. The last full week in March. On the countdown to the clock changing again, and, better new for me, a succession of short working weeks. Training most of this week, but I'm off Friday afternoon and then not back in the office until Tuesday. Bargain. In fact, for one reason or another (plus all the Bank Holidays over April and May) I don't think I work another full week for about seven weeks.

Oh happy days. today I am sharing my thoughts on the perfect collaboration we hadn't realised we needed until now, Son by Thomas Enger and Johana Gustawsson. Two equally lovely people and totally exceptional authors, this is a match made in bookish heaven. My thanks to publisher Orenda Books for one, bringing this pairing together, and, two, for sending me an advance copy to review.

And here we are. Officially more than half way through March, and rapidly on the way towards the end of Q1 of the year. That does not mean, Publishers, that we need any more Christmas books on Netgalley! Yes. I have already seen one on there for a September release. There is seeking early feedback/quotes and just taking the dang piddle.
