maybe im wrong here but we say latino INSTEAD OF HISPANIC specifically in order to include people like brazilians and haitians, and this is more relevant in the US than elsewhere. why would someone IN LATIN AMERICA identify MORE as latino than a specific nationality?

Something I was unaware of until I went to brewing school in Chicago is it has more people who identify as Latino or Hispanic than Boston has total people. The Chicago Mexican-born population alone is 1/3 our total population. This surprises so many people here of all races when I tell them.
