Trump did away with Bidens H-2A visa reforms meant to give immigrant workers better working conditions and better pay. One of many reasons big farms that use immigrant labor voted for him.

True because trumps H-2A visa plan to replace the immigrants being deported isn't working. New immigrant labor no longer wants to come here to be paid his lower wages & to be abused by a system that locks them into one farm with the risk of having that farm abuse any rights they had gained.

"From the administration’s perspective, cutting the wage makes it more attractive for growers to replace their existing workforce with H-2A workers... the message to current workers would be, if you even ask for the legal minimum wage you’ll be replaced."

In Wis. a 2023 UW study found "70% of labor on the state’s dairy farms was done by undocumented workers." The option for H-2A visa doesn't work, since it's seasonal and dairy is year-round, and those visas are losing some protections. 🌿

Farmers are feeling the squeeze from Trump’s mass deportations. Congress isn’t close to a fix.
House Republicans say they are in the early stages of policy discussions as farmers raise concerns about labor shortages.

It’s interesting that farmers claims they don’t use H-2A visa workers because it’s ’cumbersome and expensive’ (presumably they’re governed by minimum labor rates) and prefer to use illegals.

It once again demonstrates that it’s not really about people not wanting to work but rather slave labour.

President Trump is once again providing handouts to employers at the expense of workers, this time by cutting wages for H-2A contracted, non-citizen farmworkers.

Also because only 22% of soybean grown is food crop - the rest of it is commodity bio fuel, livestock feed etc...

This is kinda the issue - people are clearly getting commodity crops, H-2A farms, livestock, medium and small produce farms all mixed up. Your H-2A workers harvest 17% of US produce.
