It depends on the vaccine, some vaccines you CAN'T get during pregnancy. Something like Dtap and Covid you can, and they're recommended in sane countries. But even so, protection isn't 100% from maternal antibodies, it helps, but it's not perfect.

Pertussis is also known as whooping cough or the 100-day cough. This illness spread very easily, and is preventable with a vaccine (DTap for infants/young children; Tdap for children, adolescents & adults).

Here we have the usual duplicity. You cannot do a placebo-controlled trial of a vaccine for which there is already an effective vaccine. It is not ethical to expose participants to the risks of being unprotected from a disease that can be prevented.

While that is true for measles, it’s not true for whooping cough. Children do not receive the DTap vaccine until they are two months old. Infants are those most likely to die from whooping cough.
