#Chestfeeding
They discount how taxing breastfeeding/chestfeeding is on a lactating body; they do not want to feed that body; they want to deny that body healthcare and comfort—because nothing must taint the purity of that milk. They tie it to an extreme expression of submissive womanhood and make no concessions—

I really wish breastfeeding/chestfeeding/lactation/pumping/formula discourse was not so filled with parent-shaming on all sides. Not happy about another round of this.

legitimate breastfeeding/chestfeeding advocacy:

-normalizes breastfeeding
--in public, at any time
-advocates for parental leave
-advocates for ins coverage for lactation consultants, pp support, breastpumps
-advocates against policies that undermine breastfeeding
-promotes autonomy above all else

Parents can't win. You get shit support for breastfeeding/chestfeeding up and down the medical establishment.

You get shit if you formula feed. You get shit if you don't formula feed.

You get shamed by SOMEONE no matter WHAT you do.

This time, I plan to find a doula who holds shared values, hope to receive care and support from a certified nurse midwife, and work with an IBCLC to prioritize chestfeeding.

In the early years, the baby has an intense need to be with his mother which is as basic as his need for food.

Breastfeeding is enhanced by the loving support of the baby’s father, a co-parent, a partner, and/or close family members who value the breastfeeding relationship.

I've seen this a lot - These terms intended to include transmasculine people being assumed to relate to transsexual women. I've also seen "chestfeeding" be used as if it refers to induced lactation in trans women.

DEAR PARENTS,
We know that a big part of the parenting journey is doing what we can with what we have and know at each stage and through the constantly changing circumstances.

The question is are the people demanding the use of terms like "chestfeeding" and "pregnant person" the imperial essentialists or the freedom fighters? Or what about something more nuanced like "Latinx"? Spanish speakers don't seem to like "Latinx" because it's weird, but "Latine" might take off.

The key assertion seems to be that men"s breasts are not "reproductive organs" so I'm guessing they thought it was some "chestfeeding" trans inclusiveness and not a statement of biological fact
