many countries would set this type of road up as a contraflow bike lane. Much better if you can't get rid of the parking on both sides because of "reasons".

I do wish DTDM was more cyclable though.
If Queen in & Portland (out) between Alderney and Prince Albert were made ➡️, it would open up room for a bidi bike lane on each, or a single lane, contraflow, with room for angled parking, ♿, & delivery spaces.

Interestingly, I recently discovered that there is an early italian example of this strategy: the section of tram 31 in the center of Cinisello Balsamo, a suburb of Milan, opened in 2008, that alternates contraflow tram lanes in opposite directions and a tram-only section.

Just looking at this picture, one can deduce from the paving that the "alternating contraflow" dedicated lanes strategy is used to keep local access while expelling through traffic, similar to what Besançon did for its tram.

Read a FOI response (wasn't looking for it) from a LA, said they didn't need an order for contraflow cycle lane as it was only advisory. All signs indicate it is a one way street for all traffic. Should I ask.....
