It’s #BeesNeedsWeek! 🐝

Bees are essential for a healthy environment, but they’re under threat. By planting pollen-rich flowers and ditching harmful pesticides, we can all do our bit to give bees the boost they need to thrive. 💚

Fruit production relies on insect pollination, but changing flowering times are falling out of sync with pollinator activity.

That is why thousands of citizen scientists are helping our researchers monitor fruit blossom.

There are 5 simple actions that anyone can take to help pollinators:

1. Grow more nectar rich flowers
2. Let patches of garden and land grow wild
3. Cut grass less often
4. Do not disturb insect nests
5. Think carefully about whether to use pesticides

Planting wildflowers in apple orchards is a great way to support bees & other pollinating insects while also saving farmers thousands in pest control costs.

The wildflowers create a home for insects like ladybirds, which eat harmful pests.
