A whopping Green and Grounds team of 20 volunteers (adults, DofEs and teenage volunteers) spent this morning planting out hedging along the Falkland Road site.

The whips and shrubs had spent the last two years in our nursery, maturing prior to planting.

Snow gives the Summerhill section and the aqueduct a little extra magic. It’s such a lovely walk up there, even in its partly completed state. A stroll along the line pairs perfectly with a stop at The Boat, with famous chef patron Liam Dillon, before or after your walk.

We spotted this little chap down near Tamworth Road Narrows. He was more than happy to pose for a photo, although he probably expected to be paid with a mealworm or two. 🪶

A sunny but chilly morning saw five DofE volunteers and two adults tackling the invasive gorse along the line of the canal at Fosseway Heath.

We manage the gorse during Jan/Feb before birds begin nesting.

Huge well done to everyone for turning out in the snowy conditions!

📢 v1.113 is rolling out now!

This release focuses on fixing bugs and improving the stability of the app. We also fixed an issue some of you reported about the app locking up while watching fullscreen videos.

With that done, we have some bigger things planned to kick 2026 off right — more soon!

❄️ NB: Don’t! The canal’s definitely not suitable for Dancing on Ice.

But it is a beautiful spot for a winter walk, a quiet moment, or a frosty photo.
