Why are Europe and the Arctic heating up faster than the rest of the world?
As the planet continues to warm, not all regions are heating up at the same pace.  Over the last thirty years, the global average temperature has increased by around 0.26°C per decade. But in Europe…

From the outset, ASIC was anchored in a simple but urgent premise: #airpollution is real, but solvable—when science, policy, industry, and finance act together.

PM2.5 can fall while ultrafine, chemical-laden particles rise—they go deeper into lungs, enter blood, drive disease.
So what are we celebrating: better AQI charts or better health?
If dashboards look good but hospitals don’t—is policy actually working?

In 2001-2020, cardiovascular disease deaths due to PM2.5 declined in the US, but

"Racial/ethnic disparities persisted, with non-Hispanic Blacks and Hispanics experiencing slower [...] mortality declines compared with non-Hispanic whites."
Spatial and racial/ethnic disparities in cardiovascular mortality attributable to PM2.5 components in the contiguous United States
Regional and racial/ethnic disparities in PM2.5 component–attributable CVD mortality highlight need for targeted interventions.

Yes currently Legal but lethal whith little or no controls on #Woodsmoke from so called "Eco-Stoves" with emission based on a one off test based on 70 year old legislation. #Airpollution & #Carcinogenic allowed its time woodburning was banned.

#AirPollution affects all of us, but it harms certain groups more than others.

In urban areas like London, people from racialised communities & lower-income areas, and children, are more likely to be exposed to air pollution, & more likely to have their #Health disproportionately affected by it.

Burning wood damages our #Climate.

👍 Planting a new tree is great but...
👎 ...it takes decades of growth before that new tree is mature enough to absorb the carbon emitted from the one burnt last night.
#WoodBurning #AirPollution
Wood Is Not a Carbon-Neutral Energy Source
Treating it as such – and supporting it with subsidies, as the UK and many other EU member states do – is a flawed path to climate action.
