Sea level doesn’t rise at the same rate everywhere – we mapped where Antarctica’s ice melt would have the biggest impact
Understanding what happens to Antarctica’s ice matters, because as it melts, sea levels rise, affecting lives and economies around the world.

The UK uses very high levels of chemical flame retardants compared with other countries, many of whom have reduced fire risk as much as the UK has without using such high levels of chemical flame retardants.

Our "Pan on? Fan on." phrase as cited in this article is an example of an "If, then" message designed to help change behaviours, as they link a certain situation, in this case cooking, with a desired action (ventilating).

Just came across this via @connorbarker.bsky.social Light pollution and climate pollution too. For a lot of dumb short-life satellites.
“More pollutants are being released ... from rockets and satellites than ever before.

We’re in uncharted territory, as humans have never added this much pollution to the upper layers of the atmosphere."

Being indoors can give us some protection from outdoor air pollution, but it also traps pollution produced inside our homes.

Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.

A week ago, I made the point that films/tv etc focus on cars, normalising car-filled city streets. I asked for examples highlighting bikes/trams/buses/walking, and got 1.1k replies. Data!
Here is my unscientific analysis of those suggestions (and no, I can’t believe I did this either). [1/n] 🧵
