#652cc
The LN (Hélène) became the LNA (Hélèna) in 1978, with the A signifying mechanical improvements. It gained the 652cc engine used in the far more idiosyncratic new Visa, later adopting Peugeot four-cylinder power too. The 1124cc LNA 11E and RE belatedly appeared in the UK in 1982.

An '80s take on the simple, inexpensive utility cars of the past, the Fiat Panda quickly became an icon. This Italian brochure from 1980 pictures the 652cc Panda 30 model, mainly for the home market, identifiable by its left-side grille vent. It used the air-cooled twin from the 126. #weirdcarbs

At its 1978 launch the quirky Citroën Visa seemed to capture a little of the spirit of a modern-day 2CV, particularly the determinedly minimalist 652cc version. The original late '70s designers could hardly have imagined the bespoilered Visa 1.6 GTi, seen in its 1985 UK launch brochure. #weirdcarbs

Motorcycle rant for a second, why tf is BSA putting a 5 speed gearbox on their new 652cc 45hp single Scrambler, but a 6 speed into the 334cc 29hp single Bantam? That just feels foolish

The text in this British brochure introducing the new 1978 Citroën Visa stressed it was designed to appeal to individualists. These early-model Visas certainly had their quirks, especially the twin-cylinder air-cooled 652cc Club version, which was close to a 2CV reinvented for the era. #weirdcarbs 🧵

The Sparrow engine going back home, and the 652cc-uprated one you did in a video previously going in? Would be fun if that was up-uprated to 720cc... 😁

The remainder of the 1981 range (also known as the Visa II) is shown here. 'Proper' Citroën heritage was represented by the low-priced Special and Club, both of which had the 652cc air-cooled twin, while other models betrayed the Visa's Peugeot 104 roots. The flagship for now was the 1219cc Super X.

The retro styling and 652cc single, which is close to Royal Enfield’s twin in terms of power, makes the #BSA B65 Scrambler desirable, doesn't it? 😍🤷

I'd love to own an Ami one day. The most desirable of the Citroën twins in my view, albeit might need a cheeky 652cc upgrade to provide even the most gentle acceleration, given the chunky body.

That said, a Super would be even better but they're not cheap now.
Slightly the largest and most expensive of Citroën's twin-cylinder line-up, the Ami 8 was truthfully described in this 1977 UK brochure as 'a car with a strong French character'. It was available as a fastback saloon or capacious estate. #carbluesky

I think maybe, possibly, I might buy a new (to me) bike this year. Royal Enfield Himalayan.

I'd be going from 652cc to 411cc, 47hp to 24hp, but I don't care about speed, I don't care about horsepower, all I care about is a cool bike, easy to work on, and with space to hang loads of crap off.
