Back in 2017 when I was really sick. I could hardly walk, rested all the time. My brain couldn't focus. I needed to do 'something'. I started to cut and sew, for about 15 minutes a day. Mid 2018 I got to this stage. What a journey.

The makings of a yellow orange grey black quilt in a Bargello style. The quilt is not finished and is on a design wall. The various shades of colour create depth and movement. I named this "Interrupted" as my diagnosis changed my life, and I had to grieve for all the things in I could no longer do, and my future changed with it.

Wedges of fabric sewn in opposite directions. The colours represent different temperatures. Blue is colder than yellow, purple is below 0 deg Cel. the smaller wedges represent the weather, eg find, cloudly, drizzle, rain. The translucent triangles indicate the wind direction and it's strength. One of the smaller wedges has a koru, or new emerging fern. This is 21 September, Spring equinox. January to September on the design wall. January is on the left and is warm temperatures with oranges, reds and greens. The colours move into yellow and blues, and then green and blues. July and August have purple - this is below zero degrees C. The small wedges that represent frost are visible, they have silver glitter in the fabric.
