Weather today reminding me of a scene in Laxness' Independent People set in Iceland. The children living on a farm finally have a teacher, and are reading the bible. Very unimpressed with the story of Noah's ark: 'it can rain here for 200 days without a fairing, and there's never a flood like that.'
