Seguro won 66. 8% of votes to Ventura’s 33. 2% in the election, which went ahead despite weeks of disruption caused by deadly storms. The vote to elect a successor to the outgoing president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, was marked by a cross-party push to head off the prospect of a Chega victory , with some senior rightwing figures throwing their weight behind the centre-left candidate to keep Ventura from entering the presidential palace. António José Seguro será el próximo presidente de Portugal tras lograr el 66, 7% de los votos, una victoria muy expresiva que confirma la ventaja que ya apuntaban los sondeos. El candidato, apoyado por el Partido Socialista (PS) y el resto de partidos de la izquierda, venció en prácticamente todo el territorio luso, inclusive en localidades en las que en la primera vuelta eran del candidato de la derecha radical, André Ventura, que perdió con el 33, 3% de los votos. La segunda vuelta estuvo condicionada por el fuerte temporal que azotó el país durante la última semana, especialmente en el interior y la zona centro. Las intensas lluvias, las crecidas de ríos y los daños en carreteras alteraron la normalidad de la jornada electoral y obligaron a introducir medidas excepcionales. Dieciséis localidades no pudieron abrir sus colegios electorales por inundaciones y problemas de acceso, lo que obligará a cerca de 37. 000 electores a votar el próximo domingo en una jornada extraordinaria autorizada por la Comisión Nacional de Elecciones.
