Bundesnetzagentur said Germany’s electricity prices would be stable or fall in 2026 due to renewable expansion, while politicians and utilities warned network fees and anti-blackout surcharges could keep costs high.

Excellent article. Not explicitly discussed but evident within is the failure of the electricity sector reforms which were meant to ‘open up the market’ and reduce the cost of power

Trump's domestic (always anti-green energy and anti-climate) and foreign policies (attack oil producing competitor countries) are driven by America's oil billionaires who desperately want to squeeze every cent they can make to the detriment of America's long-term interests

* 96% of new US power capacity was carbon-free in 2024 (56 gigawatts!)
* 2025 included the first month ever when 51% of power on the U.S. grid was carbon-free
* The golbal trend is overwhelming: The world is now investing more $ in clean energy than fossil fuels
