Full time zookeeper. Part time photographer.

This is my personal web site and blog https://elements.uk.com/wordpress/
Just one from me tonight. A marsh harrier photographed the other day. This was the only thing I was able to get close to, apart from a quick glimpse of a stoat. I had that staked out for over an hour, but it never came back #photography #birds

3 quick posts while Bubu has his early chicken breast supper.

The Milky Way from Dungeness beach. I was new to astrophotography and couldn't believe nothing could be seen through the viewfinder. Luckily, I had my husband with me bearing a small torch to aid framing #photography #astrophotography

Me too! This was our view 🙂

Fairly rare white-legged damselfly. The British Dragonfly Society actually had a UK-wide count over a few years, with reports mostly being in single digits. I know where to find them in their hundreds. (We also have a few in our fields) 😊

Back to bugs for me tonight and hoping next year is better than this one. (Too hot + too dry = no bugs) ☹️

Final image for tonight. I deliberately visited the reserve when the light was non-existent. Shot at ISO 6400, but I think I prefer the colours #photography #birds

Taken on the same day as the first image, but more than two hours later. The sun had moved round and was creating stronger shadows #photography #birds

It's three kingfisher images in different light today. The first was taken on a lovely day in the middle of September. The sun was just slightly to one side of the hide. I actually visited three times in a row when the bird arrived just as I was setting up my gear. Luckily she stuck around for me 😊

Thank you. That's really much appreciated. The zoo is fine today, but the llamas and goats are shut in the field shelter and yard due to heavy rain. Here they are right now on our "llama cam". I do like to see them like this 🙂

Our beautiful blind Lizzie. She sees everything, just not with her eyes. We've actually watched her tracking and catching fruit flies #Caturday #photography #cats

Three for #Caturday

This is little Foxy in the cats' play den. It's full of beds, tunnels and toys. It used to be a massive vivarium for our green iguana until we lost her at the age of 15 #photography #cats

That's very kind. Fingers are better this morning and most importantly - the cats are all fine. Poor little Tarzan does seem to be triggered by another cat screaming. All we know is that he lost his Mum and sibling on the streets of Bulgaria. This was him in the rescue. Not with me, obviously 😉

I've had no luck with the local deer either. This was last autumn #photography #wildlife

I won't be photographing any birds for a few days with the damage to my hand. These were also taken in March #photography #birds

Because I couldn't photograph the rising full moon the other night due to cloud - here is the partial lunar eclipse from March #photography #astrophotography

Bubu is glued to my lap, making anything almost impossible. I've just finished editing a kingfisher image that I started last night. This will have to do for now 🙂 #photography #birds

The ponies of Ynys Llanddwyn rushed to graze around the famous lighthouse after the other visitors had left. I had a very long and difficult walk back to my car after the sun had set and in fact, nearly got locked in the car park overnight (but that's another story...) #photography #landscape
