I almost wrapped everything on my end for work. Away messages are up.

I am at the coffee shop now, piecing together a memoir that I'm ghost writing. And, I'm arriving early at the airport so I can continue to do so. I'll probably be finished by the time I land in Helsinki.

I've been doing personal fundraising for the artist residency abroad via my newsletter and IG. And, my local coffee shop just sent me a $50 contribution, which will cover groceries for a week! That is just so sweet! Also, demonstrate that small businesses do care about community.

It’s ok to rest.

It’s ok to unplug.

It’s ok to take a break.

Rest is resistance.

Ableism has conditioned us to believe that taking care of ourselves is somehow lazy or wrong.

It’s not. It’s necessary.

If you don’t take breaks, your body will force you.

Give yourself permission to rest.

If you have a Republican Senator or Rep and you are opposed to this bill, you should call them.

I’m still on the Senate floor tonight as Republicans struggle to advance their dangerous reconciliation bill. Keep up the pressure. Senators are feeling the heat from their constituents. This bill will do generational damage.

Learning to rest is crucial when you’re chronically ill.

If you try and play through the pain, you can permanently set back your baseline.

Make sure you remember to rest your brain and your body.

That crushing brain fog that feels like scrambled eggs in your head?

That’s a warning sign to rest

I really need to figure out the right way to get this poem tattooed on me because it has gotten me out of the hole that is not my grave entirely too many times and I think everyone needs to read it this week billmoyers.com/story/poetry...

It’s cruel to send Palestinians desperate for food into a death trap.

And now, Trump wants to give the Netanyahu backed "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" $30 million. We should not send a single cent.

We must stop the suffering in Gaza and fund real aid organizations.

In my childhood home, my father would say, in a sing song way, Say what you mean and mean what you say.

He would also do this with the phrase, Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies.

I grew up speaking directly, without asking questions.

I speak directly.

Sometimes when retelling an anecdote, someone will ask with surprise, “Wait. You said that?”

Yes, I said it.

I practiced speaking this way until it became a habit: To name the feeling, to make the request, to comment on the interaction as it is happening.
