So, why do some adult gay men and lesbians believe they are?

What would need to be true in order for this to be happening in the real world?

1. Trans identity would need to be less stigmatized than gay identity.

2. Gender-dysphoria would need to be over-diagnosed.

3. Gender-dysphoria would need to be highly medicalized.

Let's go step by step.

Certain gay men and lesbians have grown paranoid that too much acceptance of trans people could lead to the over-medicalization of gender nonconformity, ie 'transing the gay away.'
