Part of my confusion about what the Democrats are for is that as institutionalists they dampen the power of issue salience, which was historically a productive tool for progressive activists (esp. environmentalists), but they also don't particularly care to sustain memory when it suits them.

Something I’ve been thinking masses about over the past few days (without any interesting thoughts to show for it) is the degree to which one conceives of a potentially abstracted Thing as having a notionally concrete ideal.
