I’m really onto something here. Forgot to specify a touch of salt, think that’s crucial. The thing that really brings it all together is the potato starch IMO: compared to cornstarch it seems significantly finer — as a result there is no dusty/flat mouthfeel and the fat homogenises almost completely

How are we to interpret this section of the introduction by Julia Christ and Danny Trom, French philosopher and sociologist respectively, in how it relates to the content of Robert Habecks speech? Taken out of context, I would read this as an appeal _against_ the sentiment and logic of the speech.
In this concert of European nations, Germany was certainly the country that worked hardest to translate this European reflection into institutions capable of constraining sovereign states in the event of violation of the fundamental rights of the populations present on their territories. Generally speaking, this is what we retain of the German-inspired European project: a displacement of national sovereignty towards transnational entities capable of curbing the majority sovereign “people” when it comes to attacking minorities within its midst. In other words, what we generally retain of Germany’s imprint on Europe is a relativization of the sovereign politics of nation-states, tending towards outright political disempowerment.

Muslim institutions — in the particular & in general — are chastised for their moral failure to sufficiently condemn Hamas; meanwhile, condemnation of Israel is also chastised. To describe the human toll of Hamas violence as merely ‘unfortunate’ is outrageous; but IDF violence faces no such scrutiny
Together with our American friends, we are making is clear to Israel time and again that the protection of the civilian population is paramount. The death and suffering that is now engulfing the people of Gaza is terrible. To say this is as necessary as it is legitimate. Systematic violence against Jews, however, can still not be legitimized by this. Antisemitism cannot be justified by this. Of course, Israel must abide by international law and international standards. But the difference is this: would someone ever frame such expectations of Hamas? And because I was recently confronted abroad with how the attack on Israel on the seventh of October was downplayed as — quote — an “unfortunate incident,” and even the facts were called into question, let me remind you here once again: it was Hamas, who cruelly murdered children, parents and grandparents in their homes. Whose fighters mutilated corpses, kidnapped people and laughingly exposed them to public humiliation. These are accounts of sheer horror — and yet Hamas is hailed as a freedom movement? This is a reversal of the facts, which we cannot allow to stand. And this brings me to the last point: the attack on Israel took place in a phase of rapprochement between several Muslim states and Israel. There are the Abraham Accords between Israel and Muslim countries of the region. Jordan and Israel are working together on a major drinking water project. Saudi Arabia was on the way to normalizing its relations with Israel. But peaceful coexistence of Israel and its neighbours, of Jews and Muslims, and the prospect of a two-state solution — are not what Hamas and its supporters, especially the Iranian government, want. They want to destroy it. Those who have not given up hope for peace in the region, those who believe in the right of the Palestinians to a state of their own and a real perspective — as we do — must now differentiate in these difficult weeks. And differentiating means to acknowledge that the murderous acts of Hamas are intended to prevent peace. Hamas does not want reconciliation with Israel, but the extermination of Israel. And this is why it is pivotal to make it clear that Israel’s right to exist must not be relativized. Israel’s security is our obligation. Germany knows this.”

Yeah they’re all fine! As soon as the update landed, the notifications view was emptied. But subsequent notifications aren’t displaying either. Refreshed, restarted, etc. Nothing doing!

Cheers — seems to be same source cited in this Ha’aretz article. Confusing account IMO, doesn’t seem like an order & language is vague (“fired inside communities” could be interpreted as “fired at communities” but given he’s otherwise showering them with praise, doesn’t seem likely?)

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on 27 November that the Israeli army dismissed two officers - one of them a commander - for withdrawing from the battlefield after being ambushed by dozens of Palestinian resistance fighters. The report noted that half of the soldiers in that particular unit have not returned, following the brigade's decision to dismiss the officers, causing a "severe crisis between the soldiers of the battalion and the commander to which it belonged." The soldiers complained that they did not receive support or air cover by the army when they were ambushed by fighters of the Qassam Brigades, which caused the battalion to withdraw. Officers in the Israeli army remarked that the soldiers "were not prepared when entrusted with this mission." Other officers said the soldiers were sent without being given the chance to rest properly following extensive military activity in the Gaza Strip. The newspaper explained that this incident "caused a difficult atmosphere" and "crisis of confidence" among the battalion, prompting army officials to remove it from Gaza and send it to site near Ashkelon. Thinking about 2000ADs Torquemada, who despite being “totally evil and having absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever”, was still able to momentarily put on hold his obsessive definitional racism in order to stop his wife divorcing him.
Originally the leader of The Tube Police, a fascist police force and quasi-religious order in the far future, he became the dictator of the entire human race from its base on Termight (planet Earth). His Empire wages a speciesist war against all alien species, whom Torquemada regards as "impure." Torquemada's goal is to keep the human race united by their fear and hatred of all aliens. He is described as being totally evil and having absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. In fact, late in the series, it was revealed (through the actions of Thoth, son of Nemesis the Warlock) that his previous incarnations have included Colonel John M. Chivington, Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins, Adolf Hitler and his namesake, the original Torquemada. (He is, however, also a dedicated family man – he is distressed when Nemesis kills his children while escaping the Terminators and loves his wife Candida to such an extent he consorts with aliens in an effort to prevent her from divorcing him. The mute settings in @skeetsapp.com are really really good. If the trial run hypothesis works out, I’ll switch from ‘replace’ (with warning and option to show) to ‘hide’. But if it’s in convo addressing me directly I’ll still see it in notifications. Soon (🤞) I’ll be able to mute the memes too!
