If I do nothing else before I die, let it be that I read a Lindy West review of Pompeii, which currently has 27% on rotten tomatoes. You people apparently don't understand that this is a work of comedy genius. Never laughed so hard in my life.

I guess what I'm saying is, always trust a brokedown ramshackle dive called "Rowdy's" off county road whateverthefuck of a dark and stormy night. Nothing bad happens here!!1!

sensory sensitivity -> cut toenails too short -> ingrown toenail -> home remedy! epsom salt soak -> bangs into sink -> dumps 2 gallons H2O on floor -> only 1 towel available -> needs shower later.

in case you were wondering why there's 1.85 gallons of water on my kitchen floor. #neurospicy

Sinclair Lewis wrote Elmer Gantry in 1927. It's remarkable how *precisely* evangelical leaders (i.e. Billy Graham) both before and after hew to Lewis' description 📚💙 #booksky

@cityminneapolis.bsky.social Been an hour since I called 911, guys, can I get some help here? It's only 2 degrees out, nbd for this woman with no coat and one goddamn shoe.

Oh, right, I'm in North. Silly me, expecting any fucking service. 🖕🖕🖕

A woman with one shoe and no coat let herself into my sister's house asking for help tonight. Kids called me bc they don't trust cops, a good thing bc I called 911 AN HOUR AGO, and still no cops or ems. Northside pays taxes too, @mayorfrey.com

And meeting up with podcast bros
Starting to believe the biggest determinant in young men's political alignment is how much time they spend working out. Not because like some believe, exercise has some magical effects on mindset. Purely because hours in the gym means lots of time to listen to podcasts.

Please read William Shirer's Berlin Diary - he talks about, in real time, how the press is complicit (or not) in the fascist takeover of public opinion and politics in general. The parallels bw Hitler/Nazis and Trump/MAGA-ers are eerie. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_...
I understand hating opinion columns, I say this as an opinion columnist, but reporting is good and if American democracy is going to survive we desperately need reporting to expose corruption.

Finished Egan's very timely A Fever in the Heartland last night. The most remarkable thing IMO is how Egan consistently framed Madge as the hero and central character, not the men who fought her case in court. An unfortunately rare perspective for a male author. Good job being human, Tim! 👍

Guys, I just learned how Notre Dame's nickname the "Fighting Irish" became a thing: in 1924, the Klan had a huge rally in South Bend to terrorize the college, and instead of staying in the dorms as ordered by the dean, the students beat the shit out of Kluxers. WITH POTATOES.

I haven't read a book published in this decade that didn't have MULTIPLE copyediting errors. The last one had a superfluous "against," reversing the meaning of the sentence and making the whole passage very confusing. It was a book about the Holocaust, y'all. This is very distressing. 💙📚 #booksky

Literally 90% of the reason why I went back to therapy. Kinda hard to heal from past abuse when the same dynamic is at work EVERYWHERE. I mean, forget healing, a girl can't even dissociate the pain away - you'd just be in a coma.
Spending a month on Bluesky has created a whole new model of a fight we need to be having right now. Not liberal vs. conservative or whatever, but respect vs manipulation.

I am tired of being manipulated everywhere I go. That’s why I like it here, I feel like I’m in charge for once.
