I never liked hearing this or "you talk so proper" because it felt very isolating. As if because I'm not using slang or following the stereotype of a young black boy, that somehow I was less black

I really do not understand why we can’t be nuanced and admit that some Black people genuinely were rejected for being weird and that “weird” was often equivalent to “white.” 😵💫
