All true, and for most of these guys their intended audience is not the greater population. It’s the staffer who assures them the interview/presentation/speech ent well and stayed on message. The resulting affect - and the myopia it conveys - is discernible to most.
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

Yeah, see the thing about this argument was that there was actually a pretty large constituency of Americans who thought slavery was wrong and could have explained why pretty cogently. Not many people really asked them though because they were slaves.

A multiparty democracy where one party consistently has all the responsibility but none of the power…and is constrained by this paradigm even when they attain power.
Hegspeth is confirmed. Now What? He has no idea how to manage the Pentagon. So he is going to be dependent on his direct reports. Most of which require confirmation.

The Dems have to use whatever political skills they have to get qualified, rational people in these positions ?
