The White House's memes about imprisonment, deportation, and death by alligator are designed to radicalize and desensitize.

“What you have is this desire to get people to buy into the fun of sadism,” says Jason Stanley, an author who’s leaving the US because of “concerns over fascism.”
The official voice of the US government Is cruel, gross, and weird. What is that doing to us?

In the not shocking category, ICE raids suppress employment, including by US citizens:

“Persons reporting private sector work in CA decreased by 4.9%, with citizens forming a greater share of the decrease. The state’s downturn in work is comparable with the Great Recession & the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The surge in smashed windows may be only the beginning.

Speaking about Trump’s signature spending bill, which triples the size of ICE, border czar Tom Homan told a conservative Christian conference: “You think we’re arresting people now? You wait.”

We’ve documented nearly 50 incidents of immigration officers shattering car windows to make arrests — a tactic experts say was rarely used before Trump took office. ICE claims its officers use a…

the one thing i genuinely did not anticipate from this administration was its vicious, know nothing hostility to any and everything that might even be adjacent to science and scientific research. they genuinely one to destroy the entirety of the nation’s research capacity. and for what, exactly?

I want to be clear: this is what American prisons are like.

I spent years posting about the humanitarian crisis in U.S. prisons. The criminal legal system consigns Americans who are incarcerated to live like this FOR YEARS. DECADES.
They held him like this for 100 days.

Good. President Trump's deployment of thousands of federalized National Guard troops to LA is a dangerous abuse of power intended to scare people who oppose his draconian anti-immigrant policies into silence.

This partial reversal proves what we already knew: When we fight back, we win.

The Pentagon on Tuesday announced that 2,000 National Guard troops will be sent home after an unprecedented deployment in the Los Angeles area.

Homan tries to walk his words back: "I want to be clear because my words were taken out of context. Physical description cannot be the sole reason to detain and question somebody. That can't be the sole reason to raise reasonable suspicion. It's a myriad of factors."

HHS announced today they will consider Head Start a welfare program, not an education program, and will subject it to new citizenship requirements. This goes against decades of legal precedence that all children in America have a right to education. Announcement here. www.hhs.gov/press-room/p...

You have the right to document and observe all law enforcement including ICE.

Shining a light on their actions is often the only way to hold them accountable.

Know your rights, and exercise them.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
