But why is no one asking why there's no apparent history of *doing* anything (community organizing, committee membership, local political leadership, even just volunteering for a cause) that aligns with the profound shift in values and beliefs this guy is now telling us he had?

Many countries in the modern Americas have dismal political histories of being dominated by entrenched and overwhelmingly corrupt political parties, even when they are not being brutalized by strong man dictators (with CIA support). Have a look at them, then see how the US is fitting the pattern.

How quickly these Democrats forget about Biden claiming he'd pressured the Israeli government into coming up with a surefire peace plan, only for Netanyahu to denounce the peace plan (because it was not their plan at all). Thereafter, Biden said he was trying hard but couldn't stop funding genocide.
We always get these huge Trump announcements with much media hype and fanfare with lots of big promises and assurances, effusively praising himself looking for awards & prizes, while experts say the details are scarce or nonexistent. Then a short time later we get the reality.

A couple of nights ago, while I was waiting for the light rail commuter train (MAX) in Portland, Oregon, I noticed a large wing flapping in the bushes on the other side of a nearby fence. Then this Barred Owl flew onto the fence and proceeded to scan left and right, anticipating the next course.

This is what the protest yesterday was like. It was insane watching ICE charge at elderly, children, and everybody else when all we were doing was saying chants, most of us on the other side of the street from the facility.
