Annual reminder to water your Christmas tree poems …
This poem is written in the shape of a Christmas tree (well, most of it is) … Needles I wrote a poem in the shape of a Christmas tree but then forgot to water it and only a few days later [but the words beyond this point are scattered around the bottom of the page, like needles which have fallen from a Xmas tree) there were words all over the carpet

Dalí was a fairly regular contributor to Vogue, and he created 3 original covers, the first in 1939 and the third in 1946 for the December 1 issue geared towards Christmas presents and holiday clothes.

It’s a sort of ... landscape drawing: two snow-covered pine trees that balance either side of a broken bridge from which hang two pendant emeralds. Below this structure is a pair of anthropomorphic columns, one set at the top of a flight of steps, the other on checkerboard tile. Though not quite a mirror image, there is a definite sense of symmetry to the whole, as well as a sense of suspense (and suspension). “The cover is Dalí ... double Dalí,” read the caption. “A Christmas scene which can be seen two ways.”
