i think about stuff like this a lot because i very frequently meet pw/DID whose backstories don't speak at all of horrific abuse but mostly just... generally unfortunate life circumstances, and the consensus is always "i'm afraid to talk because i feel like i'll get fakeclaimed over this"
ngl i think DID rep getting better is great and all but it *does* kinda suck for me specifically that all of it is always like "this person was just a CHILD when they witnessed unimaginable HORRORS that would make a grown adult SHIT THEIR PANTS" and nothing for the quote-unquote less bad Trauma.
