Waterdrop on Evernia sp. The trees on west side of the crater are covered with Parmelia and Hypogymnia while the trees on east side are covered with Bryoria and Evernia. Ikenotaira, Tomi, Nagano #Lichen #FungiFriends

The branches of Evernia lichen. The branches are green-grey, blocky & non-smooth, and have pointy ends. There are black dot on some branches. Waterdrop hangs on the branch and reflects the larch trees.

Ikenotaira is a wetland that formed inside the crater of old volcano, Mt Sanbogamine. Wetland harbors rare alpine plants, but crater rim is more interesting in terms of lichen. Forest of gnarly larches hosts various lichens. Ikenotaira, Tomi, Nagano #Botany

Gnarly larch trees with yellowing leaves. The branches are thick since they were never trimmed, and the trunks of the tree are twisted. Thick coats of lichen cover the tree trunks.
