Finishing up "The Mighty Moo" by Nathan Canestaro. It is a simple read that was mostly put together with after action reports and a few sailors diaries and letters written home. Its a quick & enjoyable read. Ultimately I wish there were more stories, but the source material is hard to come by.

USS Oregon (BB-3) was the first US battleship ever preserved as a museum ship. Between 1925 and 1942, she could be visited in Portland.

After Pearl Harbor, the Navy reclaimed her, intending to scrap her to free resources. Instead, she was used as a storage hulk for the liberation of Guam.

Today marks the anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy. 81 years ago today the Greatest Generation pulled off what was thought to be impossible a few years earlier. Today we celebrate the great sacrifice of so many who died so that the Allies could start the march to Berlin.

Very good thread about Midway!
4/6/42: Battle of Midway. At 10:20am on what was arguably the decisive day of the war in the Pacific, Dauntless dive bombers fatally damaged three Japanese fleet carriers within minutes. A fourth was set ablaze later that day, though not before its aircraft disabled USS Yorktown
