I'm currently following an amazing work of fanfic that is the opposite of that - complex, well thought out characters in challenging situations and packed full of social justice. I've read worse published works - too often.

It’s kinda like weaponizing the word woke was a tactic to shut up less powerful people and avoiding even minimal consequences.

The media — much like what happened with anti-trans coverage — enabled a certain narrative, which of course helped the Epstein people avoid accountability, as well.
