March 2025 was the second warmest March on record in the ERA5 dataset, only behind the record set last year (2024). This is despite weak La Nina conditions in the tropical Pacific.

It was 1.6C above preindustrial levels, up slightly from February.

This is Nicole, 5 years old, her dad Oleksandr and her mom. Nicole and Oleksandr were killed by Russia last night in Kyiv. The mom is in the hospital.

The family moved to Kyiv from Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region, near the frontline.
