Senate Dem logic: we must cave now to preserve our ability to cave in the future
What about this? What Senate Dems really "got" was preservation of the filibuster (for a while longer).
Seems genuinely possible that that is what impelled them.

The AP now says Loudoun County is virtually done counting.
Spanberger is up 28%.
Jones is up 19%.
(This was McAuliffe +11, Harris +15.)
Another, smaller county that's nearly done: red Westmoreland.
Earle-Sears is up 9%.
Mirayes is up 15%.

Most of the vote just came in. (AP estimates 79%.)

Four years ago, McAuliffe won it by just 11% on his way to a 2% loss.

Next year when there is a mayoral election in DC, will any serious candidate even want approval from the Post editorial page?
WaPo editorial page: It is not our job to endorse a candidate in a national election

Instead of asking the Speaker of the House if he has a view on <critical separation-of-powers QOTD>, maybe reporters should start asking him if he reads any newspapers or otherwise informs himself on those matters to which we might think the Speaker of the House ought to be paying attention?
RAJU: Last week you were very critical of Biden's use of the autopen. But Trump admitted on 60 Minutes to not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire who pleaded guilty to money laundering. Does that also concern you?
