My weird family lives in a very red part of a very blue state. It was so good to go to "Town" 60 miles away; to find a third of the town turned up. Wild(positive). It also has to be a part of doing more.

I just don't see a downside to getting people in the streets with their neighbors, vastly more so for people in red/purple geographies, or low-population geographies of any size, if what you want to build is a meaningful anti-fascist/pro-democracy populace. This thread is already too long! Alas.

Political violence is evil, killing people is evil, a country with more guns in it than people is broken, and what the government is saying about political violence right now being a primarily leftwing phenomenon is factually, statistically untrue. They are using this moment to rewrite history.

i think back on my youth as an angry conservative kid who loved guns and spent way too much time online. i thank my lucky stars every day that i met good people as a young man who had the patience and foresight to guide me out of that stage of my life.

They were out there today, and there were times that a storm coming was a siren song, that being said, never turn your back on the ocean and beware of tides and don't be on big logs in the serf...

Grew up on the central oregon coast, and I think its part tradition, and it can be a long hike from parking to beach and sand in your shoes sucks on the way back. Also it is unacceptable to steal shoes at the beach, that's some get haunted stuff.
