#NYR hockey. Analytics. Henrik Lundqvist is a handsome alien amongst us.
Part of this #NYR inability to score is driven by Panarin not being a threat. Thru 4 GP:

- 0 high danger shot attempts vs. 10 low danger shot attempts
- 11 of his 16 total shot attempts have either missed the net or been blocked

Breadman needs to get going

Maybe the Rangers can get an NHL-quality season out of Conor Sheary (he signed a cheap deal with them) but then again, maybe not.

Rangers out of a playoff spot, giving up leads and playing poorly against a team worse than them, Sam and JD on the call

Here's another way to look at the Shesterkin contract. Based on projected future salary caps, what would be the equivalent cap hit THIS season?

Here is how Igor Shesterkin's contract projects to compare to those of Sergei Bobrovsky and Andrei Vasilevskiy. Reposting with complete information.

Anyone telling you that Shesterkin's contract is prohibitive to building a cup contender is completely ignoring reality.

Scrolled back and found the #NYR team RAPM chart from 11/23/24 to put it side by side to now. All tracks to what I posted yesterday.

5v5 offense has slowed, but 5v5 defense has improved a bit. Power Play generating a ton, Penalty Kill also improved and benefitting from strong goaltending.

Utter domination by the Rangers last night. One high-danger chance against is unbelievable.

J.T. Miller really isn't the kind of player a team should want. Even in his prime, he was a very volatile player who relied heavily on shooting over basically anything else. Over the last 5 seasons he's bounced back and forth from ~replacement level (not shooting well) to good (shooting well).

Pleased that #NYR passed on Sprong. Acknowledging small sample size from SEA, but Rangers do not need another F who:

-Doesn’t generate high danger chances
-Has problems finishing
-Team is better defensively when he’s not on the ice

I wrote about J.T. Miller as a potential fit for the New York Rangers. There are certain scenarios where a trade makes sense, but I just don't see him as the big piece that addresses #NYR's biggest problems.

Kaliyev has looked pretty good (in per-minute) terms in 187 nhl games despite not playing very many minutes per game. One of those (very common) times where you have to play a player more than you're comfortable in order to find out what you've really got.
