I don't want to create youtube shorts with my AI likeness. My AI likeness is currently being tortured in the Omelas basement so I can have all these views and subscribers. Do you think I'm gonna let her out to film for me????

I don't believe that old saying about writers hating writing but loving having written. The writing is the best part. When you're in it, it's pure magic. The non-fun bit is the stuff that sometimes goes with it. A publisher running off with £20,000+ of your earnings, just to pick one random example.

Do you write genre fiction? Want the inside scoop on the UK's newest queer small press? Keen to ask us awkward questions?

Come to the Cymera Writer's Conference, and hear two bona omi-palones cackle about zhushing books.
We'll be chatting with indie publisher Bona Books about their journey from reader/writer to setting up a publishing house.

@bonabooks.bsky.social was founded by 3 book-obsessed friends to produce high-quality, subversive & unapologetically queer SFFH books.

Nope. Nope. Nope.
Not cool.
Not here.
Not ever.

We will keep working with real translators and narrators (and artists and proofreaders and authors and...) without any of this "AI" bullshit.
The 2025 Frankfurt Book Fair heard that developments in AI audiobooks mean publishers will no longer have to decide whether to translate a book, but instead just choose which market to translate into 👇 #FBM25
AI audio means publishers ‘don’t have to choose whether to translate, only which market’, FBF hears
