I wish more people knew about #GilScottHeron. Man was such an amazing poet, activist, author, musician, and person. His career took place mostly before my time, but I stumbled across him as an older teen, and immediately was taken in my his charm and unique artistry.

What’s frustrating about this, and why I don’t watch shows like these, is what he’s arguing for here is a hot war with Mexico. And the fact that the show doesn’t come to a screeching halt immediately so he can be shamed off the set normalizes the idea. It’s dumb and dangerous but … embrace debate!

Real talk, I highly suspect the same subterfuge that broke Twitter--dozens of bots mimicking revolutionary language as cover for disinfo & consensus-faking--is slowly happening here now too, which makes me wary of any account that only has some variant of 'resister' in its bio. Sorry, not sorry.
