Top left: Identifying an electric passenger route? Lemme show you something interesting. Top right: The two types of electric passenger routes are interurban and light rail, based on if the majority of their railcars have toilets. South Shore? Interurban. TTC? Light rail. Sacramento Northern? Interurban. Pittsburgh Railways? Light Rail. Bottom left: Pacific Electric? Interurban. Key System? Light rail. LA's A Line, despite being almost 58 miles long, is a light rail.

In an update to the Northwest Indiana RDA’s Strategic Plan this week, the RDA states it intends to explore extensions to the South Shore Line along the West Lake Corridor, including Lowell and Crown Point, and an additional branch to Valpo.
