What really worries me about forests in a rapidly changing climate is that trees live a long time, and can't move
How can any individual be adapted to conditions when it germinates, and conditions decades later when it's mature?

Forests may look quite resilient to changing conditions if trees are still standing, but if they're not regenerating there'll be nothing to replace the old trees as they die. They are dying on their feet

I watched my Mom fight racism (segregation) in the South, for the right to not be harassed, to have a checking account, a loan, to wear pants to work, the right to choose. I pray that her spirit will live on in me, that together we will build bigger and better on the foundation our mothers laid.

I am absolutely fed up with the bullying and bullshit at my work, so today I chose to touch grass in a local graveyard.
It was a beautiful day to feel sunshine on my skin and moss with my fingertips. Being amongst the dead is helping me reset my priorities ... and work isn't one.
