There’s a big story everyone is missing—but this article hits on it.

We aren’t just seeing public health dismantled bc we’ve been taken over by conspiracy theorists and lunatics.

What we’re really seeing is the giant, predatory, underegulated wellness industry come to Washington.

How does water get from the water main in the street to the top of super high-rise buildings like these? The solution tends to be fairly similar everywhere, whether in Shanghai, Dubai, London, or NYC.

Can Corner Stores Mount A Comeback?

“Toderian champions a finely grained retail model he calls ‘corner convenience’: a small market, cafe/restaurant or service that ideally would be legal on every street corner across cities & suburbs.”

A no-brainer for better, more walkable cities & communities.
The Corner Store Comeback
Small-scale neighborhood retail is staging a post-Covid revival in many cities, thanks to a mix of zoning reforms, shopping trends and local incentives.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

I just don't get why the default - unfortunately often boosted by the media is to assume things can't be done and we should accept the status quo. I suppose thats why Toronto is in it's housing crisis, transit crisis, congestion crisis . . . a lot of people saying "no" and not a lot of solutions.

Platform screen doors on the subway? Too Expensive. Faster streetcars? We need to follow historic approaches. Congestion pricing? I don't want to pay! Slab apartment buildings? Shadows!

All while the fundamental quality of life and functioning of the city deteriorates.

Hardly new info, but BSky should know:

Warsaw's water quality is monitored by eight clams with magnets attached to their shells. If contamination in the water causes the clams to close, the magnets trigger an alarm and shut off the city's water supply.
