I ran past this a few weeks ago and I wondered what it was. It's just a huge illegal rubbish dump.

Oh no too late
Oxfordshire County Council has clarified that the Ghostbusters hearse would not be exempt from the city’s Congestion Charge. A spokesperson told us “It’s not as simple as buying a hearse. In order to qualify for a permit, you must also be a funeral care business.”

What
Jeremy Mogford, Oxford hotelier and chairman of Oxford Business Action Group, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his 100-year old mother Patricia Mogford. The 77-year old was charged together with 71-year old Sarah Pickering from Guildford.

It's a shame that it's not better known because it's a really good museum, particularly the events they put on. But those prices are very reasonable.
An entry fee could be charged at the Museum of Oxford, in the Town Hall. Oxford City Council says visitor numbers are half of what they expected, leading to a £77,000 “unbudgeted revenue pressure” last year.

Great idea, senior Labour figures

Kings and queens.
Things that turn out to be a lot more scarce in real life than you’re led to believe as a child, through kids’ books, TV, illustrations etc. I’ll start.

WINDMILLS.

I must have been a teenager by the time I saw one in the flesh. (Prob does not apply if you’re from East Anglia or the Netherlands.)

This is really true for me. It's not that I don't recognize each one, it's that they all blur into one very quickly and it reduces how bad it all seems.
A lot of people who are incredibly shrewd critical thinkers when someone posts a cute but improbable story, have a hard time recognizing when they’re being snowed by every piece of propaganda and outrage manufacturing they see in the news and online.

This is a clear description of the situation. I am a pragmatic voter but this is no way for Labour to succeed.

Podman tries quite hard to choose innocuous names, but I did have to look at this one twice.

This is really important to remember. If exactly the same things happened under a democratic president there would be constant self-righteous fury. And I find it hard to express how hypocritical it is.
The totalitarian levels of bad faith and disingenuousness from MAGA is funny at one level but also deeply depressing because it’s the foundation for all this and until it cracks, I’m not quite sure how we get out alive.

But. Supposing it was all going to come crashing down, the first two days might look like this.
This is basically equivalent to what Liz Truss did, in that it just makes no sense, but if you're in charge of the biggest economy in the world you might be able to ride it out.
Incredible. The Trump administration calculated "tariff rates" by taking the US trade deficit with the respective country and dividing it by the country's exports to the US. And then the tariff rate of the US is often just set by cutting that made-up "tariff rate" in half.

This is great.
✅ Hate "No ball games" signs
✅ No longer policy
✅ Took them down
✅ Recycled
✅ Not 12ft tall so need a new plan for this last one 😭

I know this is going to sound naive or earnest, but I genuinely find myself shocked by how little people seem to be upset by the levels of corruption we're seeing. Is that the median voter assumes everyone is corrupt already? Or isn't actually getting stories about the corruption?

This looks like the best case scenario now.

“Under Donald Trump’s leadership, we may disagree with your views, but we will defend your right to offer it in the public square – agree or disagree.”

But the AP is banned from the Oval Office for calling the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of Mexico.

This is sophistry, finding ways to say indefensible things in plausible ways. Trump doesn't bother, but that's basically all that's left for Republicans. So that's what they do.

It seems that Vance rather enjoys it.
Still internalising the Vance Munich speech. A sitting Vice President goes to Europe, barely says a word about the despotic murderous regime which has invaded its neighbour, and instead lectures his allies about freedom of speech. It’d be funny if it weren’t so serious.

I built this! It only helps answer questions that you could already use advanced search for. But it's a neat way to do it.
The Oxford English Dictionary now offers search assistance using AI. We asked 'Which words share their derivation with Clarion?' and got a list including 'lituate', 'sumphion', and 'ruet'. OED access is free online with an Oxfordshire public library card: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/libraries/re...
