I don't know who needs to hear this but 'parasocial' is a word exclusively reserved for real people. It is literally not possible to be parasocial to a fictional character for the same reason you can't be parasocial to a stuffed animal. They are objects. They aren't real.

Opinion: Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy is funny but an impossible to quantify number of people who can't write that type of humor tried to emulate it poorly and shove it in every piece of media (especially "nerd" media) and now people are so tired of it they assume the original sucked too
