If you visit the Roseburn path today you can still see the marks left by the drill/core-sampling survey from September 2006 at the shoulder of the wiggle just south of the bridge over the A8. I still try and avoid going directly over that point as it's still uneven enough to feel like a skid risk.

There is a fenced-off section on the west side of the path in which stands an apparatus which apppears to be a portable drill/core-sampling rig, which was apparently being used to sample the ground beneath the path as part of the original trams-on-the-Roseburn proposition. The badly-filled hole caused by the rig is still visible today, nineteen years later. At the height of summer, the Roseburn Path can often be crowded, but I have never ever left the path to use an alternative road route. It's a nice path to have to take a little extra time on.

Shortly after the #FutureTrams consultation launched I saw a comment somewhere about tight radii on the non-Roseburn route, which a crude mashup of some rotated screenshots from the council atlas (cityofedinburgh.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappv...) of the two St Andrew Square turns hopefully dispels.

I've finally started filling in the tram consultation, though still haven't had time to read anywhere near all of the documents open in my huge group of browser tabs.

#EdTravCyc The Aldi shopping trolley which was restricting the Water of Leith path just near the Sandport has now been dragged back to Aldi. The new cycle infra between the bridge and Aldi was ideal for this purpose.

Missing from the illustration is a thought bubble above the cyclist, in which they ponder how the hell they're supposed to turn right, why they didn't just stay in the main traffic lane and why a junction marked "no right turn except cyclists" would make that manoeuvre so unintuitive and indirect.

Still a fair amount of plastic barriers lying around and the road surface is awful but Abbey Lane is now mostly passable by pedal cycle #EdTravCyc

Four weeks, trapped in this tiny city-centre area. Still no sign of expansion. Outside the geofence, normal non-hire-scheme pedal cycles (both manual and electrically-assisted) go about their business, free to travel more widely.

Hmm. Whilst a jungly island has lots of dark, shadowy bits, it's not as dark and shadowy as the space-oilrig Nostromo interior, nor the depths of an atmosphere processor. You wouldn't set a Batman scene (at least, one of the black-costumed non-Adam West Batmen) on a tropical beach at noon in summer.

The construction encampment on Abbey Lane is finally starting to be cleared up - the section of constricted footway with no space on the road for cycles is now much shorter, though still narrow and there are still flatbeds and dumptrucks occasionally whooshing around the top section. #EdTravCyc

Are we already down to just one available VOI bike in the entire (small subsection of) the city, with one further nearly empty unit outside the geofence, suspiciously near a bit of the river/a disused railway line/a construction site (but possibly in the short foot-tunnel under the disused railway)?

There are some songs whose intros you do not edit, Alien: Earth. If the cuts in your scene are too close together it's your job to lengthen them to fit.
