New research shows that abortion bans led to more unwanted or unsafe pregnancies carried to term, resulting in an increase in both live births and infant deaths.

The Unequal Impacts of Abortion Bans | Johns Hopkins | Bloomberg School of Public Health
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, some states have imposed severe restrictions on access to abortion, leaving pregnant people to continue unwanted or unsafe pregnancies to term. The result was an increase in live births—but also infant deaths.

I don’t blame anyone from Canada whose appetite for visiting the US might have soured.

But here in Illinois, we're ready to prove that Midwest nice is the closest thing to Canadian hospitality you can get south of Windsor.

Welcome to the Middle of Everything.

Just to be clear, this is a violation of the fundamental ethical principle in clinical trial design called "equipoise."

Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms.

Ethical violation as POLICY.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr will require all new vaccines to undergo placebo testing, WaPo reports
U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr intends to shift the way vaccines are tested, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday, citing a spokesperson from the HHS.

Harvard Law professor Michael Klarman gave an inspiring lecture about the need for lawyers to protect democracy. I was honored that he noted the attacks and threats aimed at me. His words serve to steel my spine and make me more committed than ever to fighting for democracy.

Thank you professor.🙏

My family found a home here after fleeing the pogroms in Ukraine.

This country accepted us as refugees when we had nothing except the shirts on our backs.

We've seen what can happen when we don't speak up about the dangers — it's time to raise the alarm now.

There will be a lot of discourse about this, but any gigantic build up of imports to plug into inventories in advance of tariffs was going to get a negative GDP print. All the real recessionary issues are second quarter of this year.
Advance estimate of US Real GDP 2025 Q1: -0.3% SAAR.

Private Domestic Final Purchases, or "Core GDP" (just consumption and business investment) rose by 3.0% SAAR.

Durables PCE & net exports collapsed. Services PCE & business investment healthy. Big build up of inventories.
