Always having something on the go as first draft is my little treat. Sometimes I leave it as the last thing I have to do for the day because it really is a treat just to lay 500 or so words down and revisit whatever place I've gone to, one little bite at a time.
#pretendpanel, I like today's question a lot 😍 Thank you again @longwaydownbook.bsky.social for writing this month's questions!

October 25th: Are there any treats you give yourself to help making the writing process easier?

If I've been silent for a while, it's because I've had a revise and resubmit for a manuscript and I've had my head down for the last month. Today I finished the 1st pass. Here's a blog post about my progress, and where it's going:

Bah! Perdido Street Station has been wiped from my Audible library, I just discover. Another one gone, and a reminder that we do not buy Audible books, but only lease them for as long as it pleases Amazon, or the publisher, or whomever.
Angry face.

A fascinating list, that asks the important question: do I have room on my bookshelves for another 5 books?
Last month @bookjockeyalex.bsky.social recommended 5 books set in the 1800s. But if you're looking for SFF takes on the radium girls, French spies, and the Great Depression, this list of backlist books that take place in the 20th century might be more your speed:
