I got "inspiring." Hopefully, it's the good kind of inspiring and not "inspiring rage," which is what 2025 did for me.
Take a screenshot of this GIF, and whichever new word you land on is YOUR word for 2026.

Let's. Go.

My 2025 roundup isn't as impressive as others'. I only had one story published (a hazard of working full time while also going to school). "We Told You of the One Who Lives in the Mound" appeared on PseudoPod in July.

These are photos I took in Josefov, a district of Prague that was historically a Jewish quarter. I once lived in Prague and spent a lot of time in Josefov. The alt text contains some info on these sites.

Translating your family's feedback on your #writing:

"I like it." = "Other people will hate it."
"It's good." = "It's mediocre at best."
"It's very good." = "Other people *may* actually like it."
"It's excellent!" = "It doesn't read like a complete amateur wrote it."

Now we've lost Rob Reiner. This year has sucked, and I fear 2026 will be even worse.

Is it worth reading The Lord of the Rings if I hated The Hobbit? Does the series significantly improve (i.e. not just a bunch of 2-D characters surrounding one character with depth)? That was far from my only complaint about The Hobbit, but it was the biggest.

My friends and coworkers often ask me if Natives celebrate Thanksgiving. Some do, and some don't. It just depends. This shirt kind of sums up how I feel. Fvkit (pronounced "fuck it") means "turkey" in Choctaw. (I'm a vegetarian, though.)

I did a double-take when this said "30-year-old sci-fi saga" and then realized, yes, I am that fucking old.

Anyway, I look forward to more Stargate... even if it's on Amazon Prime.
