I'd say all of us in the Deep South have this problem as well.

I would be thrilled if one of my horror stories siphoned all the gas out someone's car. Thrilled and... highly impressed.

I said publishers take 3-18 months to respond, but that's if they respond at all. Some demand no simultaneous submissions yet never bother to send a rejection letter, leaving the author hanging. You expect me to wait for a rejection that will never come before subbing to another venue? Get real.

As a librarian, I arrange my nonfiction books by topic, and my fiction books by author. I will never understand people who arrange by size or color. Throwing books on the shelf haphazardly makes more sense to me.

I've explained it to people like this:
"Think of the least attractive person you have ever met. That is what everyone is like to me."
That or saying to a straight guy (because they're always the ones who need an explanation), "You're not attracted to men. Imagine if the world was nothing but men."

I almost lost my manuscript for my first novel. My laptop was dying and clung to life just long enough for me to save the file to a flash drive. It died immediately after that, though. If the novel ever gets published, I'm putting that laptop in the "Special Thanks" section.

Looks like some type of orb weaver spider. There are many different species, but they tend to have a certain look.
